MVA Back-to-School Event

The Back-to-School Event at MVA Fairmont Clinic is an event geared towards helping patients prepare for the new school year by providing free to low-cost immunizations on Friday July 29, 2011 from 9:00am-3:00pm followed by another clinic on Wednesday August 3, 2011 from 4:00pm-7:00pm which will offer free to low-cost immunizations and sports physicals.

A Back-to-School basket raffle will also take place offering school supplies and local business coupons. Each basket will contain supplies such as backpacks, pencils, paper, glue, markers, colored pencils, scissors, etc. There will be two baskets, one for each day. Raffle tickets are available online and at the clinic available when you check-in.

Bonnie's Bus - Mobile Mammography Program

Bonnie's bus is a program from the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at West Virginia University. The bus is a mobile mammography station that travels across West Virginia to help women get access to mammograms. They started in Spring 2009 and are still going strong. MVA @ Marion County Health Fair!

May 20 – MVA Fairmont Clinic will participate in the Marion County Health Fair. Free Bone Density screenings will be provided between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM at the Middletown Mall.

MVA @ Fairmont State University Employee Health and Benefits Fair!

April 13 – MVA Fairmont Clinic will participate in the Fairmont State University Employee Health and Benefits Fair. Free Bone Density screenings will be provided between 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM inside the FSU Colebank Hall Gymnasium.

MVA @ United Way April 1st

April 1 – MVA Fairmont Clinic will participate in the United Way Community Service One Stop Place. Social Service information will be provided. Other services TBD. This event is located at the Middletown Mall between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Grants of 2010

During 2010, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) presented serveral new grant funding opportunities for Community Health Centers. MVA submitted grant applications for Increase Demand for Services funding (IDS), Capital Improvement Program funding (CIP), and Facility Investment Program funding (FIP).

MVA recieved the IDS grant which was used for increasing provider and nursing staff.
MVA recieved the CIP grant which was used to build a new administration wing, construct a new employee parking lot, and to build an Acute Care access point in the MVA Fairmont Clinic. This grant also has been used to upgrade infortmation technology to enable more efficient management of documents and patient records.

Physicist Inspection in Radiology May 2010.
Radiology state inspection September 2010.
Mammography Quality Standards Act inspection October 2010.
FDA/ACR Mammography Accreditation December 2010.
NCQA Level II Recognition status for Physician Practice Connections - Patient Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH) Decemeber 2010-December 2013.

October 2010 - MVA recieved news of an Affordable Care Act, Capital Developement Program funding award. These funds as well as a loan from the Center For Rural Health Development, Inc., will be used for the construction of a new combined Pediatric Center and Business Office. Construction is expected to begin during early spring 2011.
